Lawn Caring For Beginners
With regard to weeding, it is known that lawn weeds may conveniently divided into two classes based on the way they emerged from the seed. Mono cots emerge with a single seed leaf during divots with two seed leaves. The main reasons most weeds are controlled are they detract from the overall appearance of the turf and they compete with turf grasses for water, light and minerals.
Water is of vital importance in having a nice green lawn. Water can be used in three basic ways: by flooding over the surface, sprinkling it onto the ground or slowly seeping into the soil from drip emitters. The basic principle for irrigation is filling in the plant root zone every time you water, then let it dry slightly before watering again. For irrigation it is recommended the coolest time of the day, either in the morning or in the evening, and the frequency, once a week. A healthy lawn requires more or less an inch of water during the week.
During the initial phase of lawn care, you need starter fertilizers to help seeds germinate quickly, so that they can spread quickly and easily over your lot. But once your ground is covered by grass, you must use another fertilizer. Common lawn care requires only about four fertilizer applications per year.
The recent trend in the lawn care is the use of organic fertilizers. They are environmentally friendly and safe for the plants. The cost of organic fertilizer is almost the same that of chemical fertilizer, but the benefits remain longer.
Aerating your lawn in the springtime gives microbes and other small creatures a breath of fresh air after winter. Aeration also makes new avenues for drainage and keeps your lawn from becoming saturated.
